  • Joseph B. Adams

    Joe Adams is an equity partner who specializes in environmental, personal injury, product liability, and toxic tort matters. Licensed to practice in California and Hawaii, Joe skillfully advocates for clients confronted with high-risk litigation involving multiple parties and highly technical scientific concepts. He defends premises owners, subcontractors, manufacturers, and distributors of a wide range of products, from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses. Joe has 20 years of experience trying cases to verdict and resolving matters with dispositive motions and mediation. He has the knowledge and experience to handle large pollution matters and catastrophic injury cases from start to finish, including adeptly managing the scientific and medical experts needed to prevail in these complex cases.   • Fred M. Blum

    Fred M. Blum is a founding partner who has been litigating cases for more than 30 years. His practice is concentrated in the areas of complex litigation, including: environmental, employment, and constitutional law. Fred also devotes large parts of his practice to business litigation, civil rights, and product liability. He has tried numerous cases in a wide variety of areas, including anti-trust, mass toxic torts, civil rights, and toxic property contamination. Representing individuals, government entities, or Fortune 500 companies, Fred has been uniquely successful whether acting on behalf of plaintiffs or defendants. He has obtained defense verdicts in mass toxic torts and property contamination cases as well as plaintiff verdicts in the multi-million-dollar range. Additionally, he has successfully litigated environmental matters ranging from CERCLA to RCRA, as well as trademark, unfair competition, and white-collar crimes. He has participated in numerous cases with national significance, including cases in firearm manufacture liability and church-state relations. Fred has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer in Environmental Law since 2004 and more recently in the fields of Business Litigation, Employment, and Labor Law. Fred frequently shares his knowledge through speaking engagements and published articles. His most recent article appeared in the Environmental Claims Journal and was focused on disputes over attorneys’ fees in environmental cases. Adding to his extensive litigation experience, Fred has specialized knowledge in the billing practices considered acceptable by insurers, insureds, individuals, and corporate clients. He has reviewed thousands of bills to determine whether they meet clients’ requirements and keeps himself educated on the latest literature regarding proper billing practices. Fred also frequently serves as an expert in litigation where the fees of other counsel have been at issue. Fred also has significant appellate experience. He has been lead counsel in hundreds of matters, including cases involving environmental, product liability, employment, and constitutional law. He has filed briefs before all federal and state courts as well as argued before most federal and state courts, including an en banc hearing before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Fred is admitted to practice in the State of California, and all federal district courts in California.   • E. Reno Cross

    Reno Cross is a partner at Edlin Gallagher Huie + Blum. His practice areas include commercial litigation, product liability litigation, toxic tort litigation, personal injury, general negligence, insurance defense, and trucking and commercial transportation cases. Reno graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.A. in political science and a B.A. in history. He earned a Master’s degree in finance from Pepperdine University, Graziadio School of Business and Management and received his law degree from Golden Gate University, School of Law. Reno served as a Certified Law Clerk for the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office in 2009. He is admitted to practice before the State Bar of California; the United States District Court for the Northern, Eastern, Central and Southern Districts of California; and the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to becoming an attorney, Reno was an investment banker for over fifteen years. As Vice President and Project Manager for the oldest municipal bonds firm in country, Reno was responsible for all areas of corporate management, including cash and portfolio management, personnel, strategic planning and contract negotiation. Reno’s investment banking duties included structuring, sizing, pricing, planning, and negotiation of public works and alternative energy financing. In addition, Reno was responsible for project management, capital budgeting, financial forecasting, feasibility analysis, and oversight of project and client legal teams. This experience makes him particularly effective at helping the firm’s clients find cost-effective approaches to managing cases. In 1998, Reno ghost wrote the book, How to Pick Large Stocks as part of a financial advisor book series published by Simon and Schuster. Since 2010, Reno has served as a pro bono attorney for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco, focusing on asylum cases to advance the rights of immigrants, refugees, and communities of color. In his free time, Reno enjoys playing competitive tennis, snow skiing, cycling, and scuba diving.

  • Noel Edlin

    Noel Edlin is a founding partner who defends clients throughout the U.S. in high-stakes environmental, toxic tort, product liability, and trucking and commercial auto cases. During his past three decades of practicing law Noel has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict, and every year since 2006 he has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer for Environmental Litigation. Noel is the managing partner at Edlin Gallagher Huie + Blum, a law firm of trial specialists with offices in downtown San Francisco and Los Angeles. Under Noel’s leadership, the firm makes intelligent investments in continuing education and information technology to work smarter, decrease costs for clients, and keep on the cutting edge of e-discovery. Whether it involves a Superfund site with hundreds of potentially responsible parties or a single construction multi-million-dollar custom home, he has a strong track record for achieving favorable outcomes for his clients.   • Anne C. Gritzer

    Anne C. Gritzer is a Partner in EGHB’s San Francisco office and an accomplished trial attorney who represents clients faced with general liability claims, especially in the areas of toxic tort and environmental litigation. For more than two decades, she has successfully defended public entities, premises owners, manufacturers, and contractors in a variety of complex, multi-party disputes. Anne has resolved many matters through dispositive motions and mediation, taken several cases to favorable verdict at trial, and has a growing appellate practice. Anne earned her B.A. from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and her J.D. from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX. After completing her law degree, she served as a Briefing Attorney at the Court of Appeals, Second District of Texas, for the Honorable Sidney C. Farrar, Jr. In that role she was a principal contributor to more than 100 civil and criminal opinions, one of which was cited by the Texas Bar Journal as a paradigm of appellate review for summary judgment practice. Prior to becoming an attorney, Anne was an insurance professional with a large national brokerage where she negotiated third-party liability coverage and excess layers for a multi-national petrochemical corporation, multi-state financial institutions, and local municipalities. She is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and is presently affiliated with the Golden Gate Chapter of CPCU, and a member of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF).

  • Farheena A. Habib

    Farheena A. Habib is an equity partner with Edlin Gallagher Huie + Blum who practices primarily in the areas of employment and labor law, environmental, toxic tort, and product liability. As part of her environmental litigation practice, Farheena has represented clients in both state and federal court including numerous cases involving CERCLA and RCRA claims. Farheena has managed cases through all phases of litigation and has extensive experience with client counseling, deposition and motion practice, mediation, and settlement. Farheena obtained her law degree from Boston University School of Law in 2005 and her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of California at Davis in 2001. Following graduation from Boston University, Farheena served as a legal research clerk for the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch. In her capacity as a clerk, Farheena analyzed pre-trial motions, conducted legal research, and drafted bench memoranda for judges of the Superior Court of Connecticut.   • André R. Hill

    André R. Hill is a partner with more than 28 years of experience practicing law. His practice is focused in the areas of construction defect, product liability defense, employment litigation, and toxic tort litigation. André handles all aspects of general civil litigation with particular expertise in insurance defense, defending and advising pest control operators, rental equipment disputes, construction defect litigation, and trucking injury and premises liability. He is actively involved in all phases of litigation, including responsibility for trials, binding and non-binding arbitrations, settlement negotiations, law and motion, and depositions. André earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where he was a Moot Court Distinguished Advocate, and an Associate Editor for the UCLA Black Law Journal.   • Megumi Horiuchi

    Megumi Horiuchi focuses on civil litigation matters. She defends clients against claims involving property development, construction, transportation and trucking, product liability, toxic tort, breach of contract, and general liability. Her construction litigation practice includes representation of builders, developers, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and manufacturers in commercial and residential high-rise, mid-rise, and conversion projects. Megumi has particular expertise in serving transportation and trucking industry clients involving catastrophic personal injury claims, wrongful death claims, contribution and indemnity matters, regulatory matters, product and manufacturing claims, and first-party and third-party claims for a leading rideshare company.   • Jeremy D. Huie

    Jeremy D. Huie concentrates his complex litigation practice in the areas of asbestos and product liability. He handles all aspects of defending his clients, including roles as first chair trial counsel and National Coordinating Counsel. In addition to trying cases in California, Jeremy has been admitted pro hac vice to serve as first chair trial counsel in other states. Jeremy received a B.A. in 1993 from the University of California, Berkeley and a J.D. in 1997 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He earned American Jurisprudence Awards in Legal Writing & Research and in International Commercial Arbitration. Jeremy served as Symposium Editor for the Hastings West-Northwest Journal of Environmental Law and Policy. Jeremy is the author of the two-volume treatise California Depositions, as well as several published articles, with highlights that include “Removing the Sting from Asbestos Litigation,” published by HarrisMartin, and “Beyond the Gore Factors: What Courts Consider in Allocating CERCLA Section 113 (f) Liability,” which appeared in the Environmental Law Journal. He has spoken at numerous legal seminars on topics including premises liability, legal writing, and use of the internet for legal research. Jeremy taught Legal Writing & Research as an Adjunct Professor at UC Hastings from 2000 through 2006. Jeremy was selected to Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in each year from 2009 to 2012, and as a Northern California Super Lawyer in each year from 2014 to 2021 for his work in defending clients against product-related personal injury claims.
